How it all Began
Dr Sicknote is a new online service that grew out of a doctor’s concern over the congestion of the health care system. Dr. Sachin Patel recognised that patients who see a doctor for a Medical Certificate only require a diagnosis and signature. This alerted him to an opportunity to re-route these consultations and alleviate the system overload.
From experience, we all know that the obligation to provide a medical certificate can be a counter productive exercise in terms of getting better. Dr Sicknote’s service is part of a new approach to healthcare called telemedicine already popular in Europe and the US. The rationale of this new process is directed towards work productivity and efficiency of delegation, in order to save time and reduce cost.

This is all backed by a guarantee that if the doctor thinks the issuance of a Medical Certificate unnecessary then the fee will be refunded in full. Reimbursement also applies if the certificate isn’t received by 6pm the same day (for consultations before 1pm). And for when the kids unexpectedly fall ill, there are Carer’s Certificates available, and Specialist Referrals for when the original has expired or is misplaced.
